Westchase Elementary student wins water award

Tampa, Florida -- 1,900 Hillsborough County students competed for the big prize, but only three earned that top spot in the Tampa Water Department's 'Drinking Water' contest.

The award recognizes students with 'outstanding science fair projects related to drinking water resources and/or conservation', according to the Tampa Water Department.

Westchase Elementary School is very proud of Grace Pipp who won recognition for her project, "Rollin on the River".

Businesses can step up to help Citrus Park Elementary

Citrus Park, Fla. -- Do you own or work for a business that could benefit from being part of Citrus Park Elementary's PTA Spring Carnival Fundraiser on Friday, March 23?

Citrus Park Elementary School needs donations for their live and silent auctions at the annual school carnival.

PTA volunteers say things like gift cards and certificates from businesses such as banks, auto repair, maid service, pest control, lawn service, restaurants, and electronics stores would be a big hit at the auction.

Deadline approaching for college scholarship opportunity

Hillsborough County, Fla. -- There are only two weeks left for college students to apply for a $1,200 Florida State Association of Supervisor of Elections (FSASE) scholarship.

To qualify, students must either major in: Political/Public Science, Business Administration or Journalism/Mass Communication. Additionally, students must be registered to vote in Hillsborough County, be a resident of Florida for two years preceding the academic year, and must be enrolled or accepted as a junior at a university or senior college in Florida.

Reminder: Deadline approaching to apply for Magnet programs

 

Hillsborough County, Fla. -- The deadline to submit elementary school applications for Magnet programs and School Choice is Wednesday, Feb. 29.

Under Hillsborough Choice Options, students can apply for a magnet school or another public school with available space within Hillsborough County.  Students, who wish to remain at their current magnet or choice school, or prefer to attend their attendance area school, do not need to complete an application.

Patel Conservatory Arts enrichment partnership applications now available

Attention members of our community! Would your non-profit organization – like so many others in town - to benefit by engaging in high-quality performing arts experiences?

Partners of the Patel Conservatory, such as schools, Tampa Bay area agencies and community organizations, receive individualized performing arts programming and/or tickets to shows at the Straz Center. Arts programs may include workshops, master classes or performing arts classes.

Applications for the Patel Conservatory’s 2012-2013 Community Partnership Program are now available.

Casino night to remember

Tampa, Florida -- The Westchase Elementary PTA is announcing its 4th annual Casino Night to Remember to benefit Westchase Elementary.

This year's event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 6:30 p.m. - midnight.

Tickets are $90 for a couple or $50 for individuals. Each ticket will get you access to $3,000 in gaming chips. The night will feature gaming, entertainment, auction and food.
