Workshop to discuss lake levels northwest Hillsborough

Carrollwood, Florida - The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) invites the public to comment on proposed minimum guidance levels for Lakes Rogers and Raleigh in Hillsborough County at a public workshop on Wednesday, May 29. 

The workshop will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Walker Middle School Cafeteria, located at 8282 North Mobley Road in Odessa.

Hilllsborough to declare April as "Water Conservation Month"

Hillsborough County, Florida-- During a regular board meeting set for Wednesday, April 17, county commissioners will declare April as "Water Conservation Month" in Hillsborough County.

According to reps, April- typically the driest month of the year- is an ideal time to pay close attention to leaky faucets, replace malfunctioning plumbing parts, consider lower shower heads and shorter shower-times, keep lawn-watering to a minimum, and more.

Tampa, FL (March 27, 2013)-- If you're in northwest Tampa today  and happen to notice some smoke in the sky, don't panic! The county says they are conducting a prescribed burn at Upper Tampa Bay Park.

They've scheduled the burn for ecological site management, and they say it's only scheduled to last through today.

Hillsborough to return to one-day-a-week lawn watering

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Hillsborough officials announced Wednesday that they'll be enforcing tighter water restrictions throughout the county as of March 13 because of below normal rainfall, reduced river levels and increasing water supply concerns.

All residents will be limited to watering their lawns once a week, and officials said this rule even applies to those who are not public utilities customers.

An exception will be made for reclaimed water customers, but they are also being urged to use as little as possible.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.
