Tampa Bay most 'overdue' for major storm

South Tampa, Florida - If this week's soaking storms aren't enough of a wake-up call to be prepared for hurricane season, maybe this will be.

The Weather Channel is out with a new study of the regions that are most overdue for a major storm. And guess who tops the list?

We do.

The unsettling report is not just based on how long it's been since our last storm. It talks about vulnerability, how the region from Sarasota north to Pasco and Hernando has grown so much over the years, and the impact that may have.

Short yellow lights in St. Pete may be short-lived

St. Petersburg, Florida - The City Council will have the opportunity to make intersections safer this month, as a report on yellow light lengths is expected at an upcoming meeting.

The 10 News Investigators exposed short yellow lights at numerous red light camera (RLC) intersections in St. Pete, costing motorists hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. The discovery was part of a massive investigation into RLCs that revealed FDOT was reducing the yellow interval times, resulting in more tickets.

Zoning Hearing Master holds meeting next week

Tampa, Florida -- If you have a zoning issue in Hillsborough County you will want to be at the Zoning Hearing Master Meeting at 6 p.m. this coming Monday, June 3.

It will take place in the 2nd floor Board Room at County Center, located at 601 E. Kennedy Blvd in downtown Tampa.

Following the meeting the Zoning Hearing master makes a written recommendation to Hillsborough Commissioners on whether to approve or deny a zoning request.
