Forum to help women veterans readjust to coming home

Women soldiers returning home from military service face a number of issues in order to readjust to life back at home – health care, reentering the community, education and job seeking. The unemployment rate for women veterans is more than 16 percent.

The Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women (COSW) will host a Women Veterans Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 29, to identify the challenges women soldiers face when trying to find a job after coming home from service and develop solutions for them.

Vietnam vets get first Hillsborough memorial

Tampa, Florida -- With a ceremony under sweeping oak trees and two huge metal helicopters, veterans of the Vietnam War dedicated Hillsborough County's first public memorial to the conflict.

Many of the men and women who filled Veterans Memorial Park on Veterans Day morning had a loved one -- a husband, brother, or father -- whose name was among the 155 carved in stone on the six-foot-high wall that serves as the centerpiece of the memorial.

The names belong to each person from Hillsborough County killed during the war.

Comedian arrested in bank robbery

Citrus Park, Florida -- Deputies say they got the last laugh on a stand-up comedian who allegedly robbed the same bank twice in one week.

Investigators say 27-year-old Jeffrey Lluis robbed the SunTrust Bank on Ehrlich Road in Citrus Park on Tuesday, and then robbed it again Thursday.

During the first robbery, the suspect implied he would "blow the bank up" unless he was given money. He fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Local amateur comedian arrested for bank robberies

CITRUS PARK, Fla. - It's no laughing matter for one local amateur comedian, arrested after authorities said he robbed a bank, twice. Officials with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Jeffrey Lluis Thursday.

According to authorities, Lluis walked into the Suntrust Bank, along the 5300 block of Ehrlich Road Tuesday, and claimed he had an explosive device, demanded money, and took off. Thursday, investigators said Lluis targeted the bank again.
